Lisa Cain
Lisa D. Cain, Ph.D. is a native of Canton, Mississippi and a self-taught folk artist. She is currently the associate dean for professional development and faculty affairs and professor in the Department of Diagnostic and Biomedical Sciences at University of Texas Health Sciences Center in Houston (UTHealth) School of Dentistry. She is also an adjunct professor in the Department of Neurobiology and Anatomy at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth. She has incorporated her love of art into the educational arena by organizing art shows at academic institutions and other academic organizations. She is a folk artist who has incorporated her traditional folk art into a new mixed media format. Her art has been showcased in many galleries, collected by art collectors and featured on Netflix television shows, the most recent being: The Family Reunion. In August, her art was featured at the Mississippi Delta Museum in Greenwood Mississippi.
